Streamlining and harmonising how we do things: NIAA draft grant agreements to be included with Grant Opportunity Guidelines on GrantConnect What’s changed? For any new grants designed on or after 31 August 2024, policy and program areas will need to commence drafting the grant agreement in the Grant Design Strategy stage of the Design phase in the grant lifecycle. This new requirement has been endorsed by Executive Board and is consistent with a standard procurement approach and applies to new tailored grant opportunities (not direct approach using the Agency Collaborates GOGs currently available on GrantConnect). Benefits for potential applicants and the NIAA: Including the draft grant agreement will provide potential grant applicants with an insight into what they will be signing up to, while retaining the flexibility for the NIAA to update the document if needed, taking into account business needs and specific risks. It will also lead to savings in time and effort in negotiations at the Establish phase of the grant lifecycle. What you will need to do differently when designing a grant opportunity: The Grant Design Phase has 2 main stages:
The GDS template will include new advice to commence drafting the grant agreement for tailored grant opportunities. The template will be available soon, so please contact the Grants Front Door to enquire about. Drafting of the grant agreement will continue in the developing new Grant Opportunity Guidelines stage, with a final draft to be included with the approved GOGs on GrantConnect.
