As part of the Department of Prime Minster and Cabinet’s (PM&C’s) continual commitment to security enhancement all NIAA users of Qlik Sense will be required to set up multi-factor authentication (MFA) from Thursday, 14 November 2024.
MFA is crucial for security because it adds an extra layer of defence beyond a simple username and password. MFA strengthens security, protects against stolen credentials and reduces the risk of data breaches.
When first logging in from 14 November 2024, impacted users will be prompted to setup MFA. Users will require the Microsoft authenticator app installed on a mobile device prior to setting up MFA. You will be unable to log in using any impacted accounts until MFA has been configured.
After entering your username and password you will be prompted with the following screen. Click next to continue.
Select the Sign-in options and select the Face, fingerprint, PIN or security key option. You may need to click use a different account in the above screenshot and then just put in your email address again to get these options.
Select continue.
You should then be greeted with this page, click next.
Click next again and then scan the QR code.
Make sure they are using the Microsoft authenticator app and that they are scanning the QR code within the app by clicking the + in the top right and then selecting work or school account. Not using their camera app on the phone.
Then click work or school account and then scan QR code on their laptop screen.
You should then see a number on your laptop and be prompted on your phone to enter in a number.
This should then add a DMPC account to your authenticator. You will need to log in one more time as well as being prompted to enter a number in one more time to get access. Once you are in you shouldn't have to use the app again.
